Bill's Travel Blog: The Place Where He Was Born

When I raised the garage door, Wildfire was ready to go. Once we got on the road, the wind and sunshine felt great and it seemed that Wildfire rode better than ever, knowing he was heading back to the place where he was born.

Honda invites it's customers every July to their Marysville, Ohio plant. It's the only place in the world that manufactures Gold Wings. As you might imagine, people come from far and wide. In addition to the obvious social activities, there are safety demonstrations, demo rides, vendor booths and as always, a drawing for a new Gold Wing. But the highlight for me was actually taking the plant tour while the plant was running. They definitely have an impressive assembly process! Understandably, they wouldn't allow picture taking inside, but I took a few outside.

The welcome parade .... Don't know what was more cool, seeing the bikes rollin' in or seeing the pride on the faces of the people who built them. The whole plant turned out at shift change time to welcome the riders. And the riders saluted the Honda folks for a job well done in building their dream rides. Naturally, a yellow bike led the way!
