Puppets and Frank Lloyd Wright

On my return from the "Out West" trip last summer, one of the little gems that I passed through was Mason City, Iowa. It is perhaps best known as the hometown of Meredith Wilson who composed "The Music Man". There is a footbridge named in his honor as well as a whole square dedicated to the motion picture.

The NacNiderArt Museum has, among other things, much of the puppet collection of Bill Baird. If the name doesn't sound familiar to you, maybe a look at these happy critters will jog your memory! The pictures aren't the best as I had to snap them through the display glass, but at least they're recognizable. :)

And then a little farther on down the street is Frank Lloyd Wright's Stockman House, which is impressive even by modern day standards, not to mention it was built in 1908! Pictures aren't allowed inside, so you'll have to take the tour yourself sometime. You won't be disappointed!
